This segment describes what actually forces dose changes in EGFR-mutated advanced non-small cell lung cancer. Quality of life can improve markedly once induction carboplatin and pemetrexed are complete, and cumulative fatigue on pemetrexed maintenance prompts dose reduction, longer intervals, or discontinuation in a substantial share of patients, more often the longer therapy continues. With amivantamab plus lazertinib, skin toxicity is the dominant concern, and patients still require dose interruption and dermatology co-management despite proactive antibiotic prophylaxis. Rash, stomatitis, and paronychia round out the persistent toxicities, with nail changes interfering with tasks as ordinary as opening doors and holding dishes. Less frequent but higher-impact events include blood clots and pneumonitis, which can require anticoagulation, steroids, or oxygen, making early anticipation and frequent visits preferable to reacting once toxicity escalates.
